I'm following up a bit on this, specifically regarding the NPC!
So, I have assumed Kaneki does have a regular NPC who suddenly glitches into the coffee shop on a regular basis. Nothing big, he shows up and asks for a coffee - if kaneki is there kaneki actually serves him, if kaneki isn't there, he gets served as part of the program - and then leaves by glitching through the door even though the door is locked.
Thanks to a conversation Kaneki had with Gil, he decided to befriend this NPC. So basically become interested in the NPC's life, maybe try to check out where he goes, what he is doing, asking him questions about his family, friends, his work, how he feels and what he thinks of the place, even mundane stuff like what was the last book he read, or when was the last time he traveled. BASICALLY HE IS HALF-STALKING THIS POOR MAN, HALF-BEFRIENDING HIM. To be fair, kaneki will get attached because he can't help but to see the NPCs as real people :(
Basically, what would happen? Would he find out something strange, anything important at all?
