Updating A Character

If you would like to change your character's canon point, please fill out this form with the requested information and leave it as a comment to this post. Please note that canon updates are treated the same as applying from new canons, in that the canon point must have been "out" for at least 1 month before they can be updated. As always, please be considerate of spoilers when interacting with other players.

For characters ICly, it is very similar to an in-game death experience: they will feel themselves dissolving from the Svelte world and be subjected to the alarming sensation of being deconstructed atom by atom. Characters returning to their native worlds may retain some vague impressions of the Svelte world, but not so much as it would change their actions (that is, you can't use them to make the character an AU version and branch off to a different canon path). For most, it will seem like a vague dream or a very unusual sense of deja vu.

Upon re-materializing inside the simulation after 24 hours, characters will have all their memories of their previous time in Svelte in addition to their new memories.

MAKING A REQUEST

Players who would like their characters to either acquire an item from their world, or who wish to permanently retain a change to their character (new ability, new appearance, etc) can spend the special, very rare currency called Booleans. These are IC tokens that are distributed only through in-game events, and below is a breakdown of the costs associated with each type of redemption.

Please note that these redemptions are for "extra" or "bonus" perks that players wish their characters to have. If a character requires specific resources from their worlds for their health or well-being, those items do not have to go through this process. Further, boolean redeems are not the only way certain effects or regains can be achieved — they may also appear as special plot events from time to time.

SPECIAL NOTE: Characters may give their booleans to one another, however a character who disappears due to a drop, etc will not leave their otherwise ungifted booleans behind. If your character is giving their boolean(s) to someone else, please drop a quick note of it here so that my spreadsheet can be matched accordingly, thank you!

TYPES OF AVAILABLE REDEMPTIONS

[ A ] GAIN EXTRA ABILITY/POWER/SKILL (TEMPORARY) 1 BOOLEAN
Character gains an ability (either from another character with their player's permission) or simply spontaneous, lasting the player's choice for duration (max 2 weeks). Good for plot/CR enhancement! All gained abilities still subject to power nerfing rules (no breaking the simulation, etc).


[ B ] 1-2 PERSONAL, NON-MAGICAL ITEM(S) 2 BOOLEANS
Items such as non-powered weapons, books, clothes, household articles, general sundries or supplies, ordinary possessions (canonically theirs or otherwise), etc.


[ C ] PERMANENT PHYSICAL CHANGE (MINOR) 2 BOOLEANS
Affect most superficial characteristics: hair/eye colour, height/weight, distinguishing features, etc - also includes the ability to turn this change on/off at will. (Permanent meaning the ability does not disappear, not that it must always be in use.)


[ D ] 1 MAGICAL/CUSTOM/SPECIAL ITEM (SMALL) 3 BOOLEANS
Powered weapons, special artifacts/talismans/etc, (canonically theirs or otherwise). May also include small (non-sapient) pets/companions/etc which were not brought in with the character. Size limited to something reasonable carriable.


[ E ] GAIN 1 NEW ABILITY/POWER/SKILL (PERMANENT) 3 BOOLEANS
Character permanently gains an ability (either from another character with their player's permission) or simply spontaneous. All gained abilities still subject to power nerfing rules (no breaking the simulation, etc).


[ F ] PERMANENT PHYSICAL CHANGE (MAJOR) 3 BOOLEANS
Change of species, additional limbs, anything that would render the character looking like another person (so full body disguise, etc). Also includes the ability to turn this change on/off at will. (Permanent meaning the ability does not disappear, not that it must always be in use.)


[ G ] UNLOCK PRIVATE CITY LOCATION 4 BOOLEANS
Characters will discover/be led to a hidden location within the simulation. This may be something that has been custom-generated for them, or a location (partially) from their own world that has been modified into the simulation. Only characters who have been granted permission by the founder may access the location.


[ H ] 1 MAGICAL/CUSTOM/SPECIAL ITEM (LARGE) 4 BOOLEANS
Large items requests (magical/powered or non) such as vehicles, large (non-sapient) pets, high-powered artifacts/objects with significant reach in their effect, etc. For anything larger than a standard automobile, please let the mod know ahead of time as some items of this category may need to be scaled/modified to prevent game breakage.

Character Name: Gil Ryanson
Current canon point: Changeling: The Lost
New canon point: 1E to 2E
Any notable changes (physical/abilities/etc?) As discussed briefly on Discord I'll be updating him from 1e to 2e of Changeling the Lost; narratively/personality wise absolutely nothing changes, it's all mechanical notes. A full sheet for his updated skills can be found here, but here's a summary of his changes from his app.

I'm sorry for how many extra skills he's getting.

SO! From the top:

Ogre Blessing/Curse
Blessing and Curse have been updated, now very different functions. Blessing has new combat function (temporarily exhaust opponents will to fight), is optional on Gil's part and can be solved with one-on-one discussion.

Gristlegrinder Blessing
Extra addition: Gil is now able to swallow anyone a size category smaller than him (Gil, as an adult human, is size 5). Opt-in only, will also be discussed with thread partner/s ahead of time if it looks likely, as Gil will not often use this.

Autumn Mantle
Same strength and aesthetic (sound of dry leaves underfoot), but allows extra insight into True Fae or Faerie investigations; this applies to investigating other Changelings. (Can also regain Glamour by facing his fears to investigate danger, but that's mostly narrative)

Merits
2e Changelings start with 10 dots, and some old ones are phased out. All Merits are listed on the sheet above, and (apart from his Mantle) are entirely mundane. The use of Headbutt would be discussed with thread partners (but theoretically he can totally give the Cybertronians a concussion now). Furthermore he'll no longer have the Token The Truth Shall Make Ye Fret, as it's technically a merit and being replaced.

Contracts
Several contracts got dummied out or edited, and 2e Changelings start with a flat 6 instead of point buying, so Gil has 6 contracts now. Witches' Intuition continues to be opt-in, others don't require permissions as the magical aspects only affect Gil; Shared Burden is a healing spell.

Hedgewall creates a hedge-maze that may cause significant environmental damage in up to a 15m radius circle (up to 4 stories high) at Gil's discretion; the actual shape can be anything he wants. This lasts until the next sundown, and may damage to anyone that tries to climb or attack it without appropriate protection. I don't know if you'll need warnings or anything if this is done in a location where it can cause structural damage to things, but I'm listing it fully for easier access for you.

Other Changeling Abilities
Gil is now able to create spontaneous pledges and oaths using Wyrd now, as described by Coda during their regain.
While I believe this has been discussed as an acceptable ability, I'm also formally adding that he knows how to dreamwalk now, though he is not practiced with it at all.
In 2e as well, Changelings can forcibly harvest all of a target's Glamour, a process known as reaping that induces symptoms similar to lethargy, exhaustion or depression. This would be an opt-in only ability, and a rarely used one at that.

Gil will also be rather disoriented immediately following this update, and won't have immediate access to any skills that require activation, such as his Contracts and Blessings, as he adjusts to the deja vu weirdness of this update.
